I just received my Libec LS38 and was wondering if it was normal for the head to drift back into a level position on a tilt?

Thanks, because up until this tripod I have been using a Manfrotto 501 and it never returned the camera to level.

What camera do you have mounted? It may be too light.
The head also behaves this way with a naked HVX200, but when I add accessories such as a firestore and LCD the head will stay solid in what ever position I choose when tilting.
It's also important to move the mounting plate accordingly to find a good balancing point.

I have an EX1r with no accessories. I had also planned on using it with my DVX. I wanted to make sure I gave room to add on, a matte box, monitor and whatever else I may need.
