LEX new achromat better than old one?

I wanted to ask , maybe someone knows,

whether there is any advantage on using new achromat glass instead of old one for other cameras than ex1. I was told that i can use new achromat on A1 also, but does it give any advantage or just corrects softness for EX1 ?

any tests?

thanks

I am not sure about your initial question, but a lot of us agree that the Extreme was pretty much constructed on the A1. I do not know this for sure, but the A1 and Letus seem to perform the best out of all other cameras.

Now the EX-1 (when we see more footage) is up there.

letus didn't work well with ex1, so they constructed a new achromat glass. at the moment i have A1, but plan to get EX1, so i wanted to buy a new achromat immediately with my adapteri... and i was wondering whether using letus with this new achromat glass on A1 will give any advantage over older achromat glass, or difference is only for EX1 camera...

Nobody knows just yet. The new achromat is just now trickling down to users. I would hope that it would, for all cameras, however. It's a matter of time before anyone knows for certain how the EX-1 Achromat works for all of the other cameras.

Basically... have to wait.

The Extreme was not designed for any one camera in particular. It was designed based on math and the expectation that the camera lens would be mathematically accurate as well. The XH-A1 does work great with the Extreme as it is the most consistently accurate. Most HVX lens fall within this tolerance as well. The EX1, as we have seen, fell outside of what it should mathematically speaking. The achromat we have for the EX1 has been altered to correct for the loose tolerance in the Sony lens.

oh :) nice to see reply from letus stuff... i also got an answer from Aaron:

Tomas,
The new achromat is designed specifically for the EX1. It will work on other cameras as well. Since there are different tolerances amongst different manufactures and even lenses from camera to camera, we cannot say what kind of performance increase, if any, the EX1 achromat will provide on other cameras until it has been fully tested. I would recommend staying with the stock achromat.

seems like i should stick to stock achromat, and when i buy my EX1, then upgrade...
