Recently, I've converted over to the snorkel down look on my LEX after seeing P.Bloom's set-up. Everything was cool and it allowed me to use even less hardware (just the q riser - not the whole z riser set up) and balanced much better for handheld.
But as I was dialing the rig in I noticed that I had to zoom into 74 or 21.5mm on my HVX to clear the edges of the GG. This seemed excessive and a good case for x/y adjustment. Then Dennis of Cvate, said to test both snorkel up and down and if the zoom in is the same in both positions then it's the camera's offset. If it's different, then it's both the camera plus an uncentered GG in the adaptor.
So I turned back to snorkel up and I could zoom out considerably more (72 or 19.8mm). Now some may be thinking, 2mm isn't a big deal. It is. It's about 10 percent less FOV. That's alot.
Anyone else test this? Is this an anomaly? Does anyone have a remedy? Since then, I'm going back to the snorkel up position as I like to get as much wide angle as I can get (being the smallest glass in my kit is 24mm).
