LEX advise needed...

I've ordered a Letus EXtreme and should be getting it before the end of this month. I've read so many posts about how great the optimization kits are for the HVX and for the EX1 at improving edge to edge sharpness. My LEX will be used for a DVX100B, is there anything out there I could use to improve my edge to edge sharpness? Would it be odd to get a step up ring (72mm to 77mm) and purchase the EX1 optimization kit? Are there less problems with edge to edge on the DVX?

I am not sure you will notice a huge difference with the optimization kit on an SD DVX100, unless you are using hydra. I had the old Achromatte and the new achromatte on an HD HVX and noticed minimal increase in E2E sharpness. I think the edge problems with the old achromatte are masked by the lower resolution of SD.

How long do you plan on staying SD is another question to ask. If not for long then it may be worth the upgrade...kind of future proofing. I need to get it and it would have been a heck of a lot easier to fork over the dough at one time.

better lenses and having enough light to stop down will give you all the edge to edge sharpness you need for your 100b. Without any upgrades to the lex ex.

35mm's and up are best 28 and wider need some stop.

Thanks everyone. Cinebuddy, because of finances and practical application I'll be using SD for a couple more years to come, so I probably won't need to worry too much. THX-1138, yeah, that was what I was figuring (regarding just stopping down a bit if necessary and able).

It seems the e2e issues are quite camera-specific, and since the DVX is different than the HVX it might or might not benefit from the optimizer.

I'm still surprised to hear that AwakenedFilms hasn't seen much improvement with his LEX/HVX optimizer. It's a very obvious and very welcome improvement on mine.

One's mileage does indeed vary...
