Levels and super whites/blacks for DVD and for Web?

Hi!
I have to author a video into a PAL DVD (mpeg2) and into a web format (mov, swf, whatever). I wonder how should I deal with levels regarding these two output formats. I mean, I suppose that for the dvd output i should be into the 16-235 range to avoid super whites and super blacks...But what about the other?

Questions:
1) What should I check in my histogram? Should I also check using waveform? What to look for?
2) For the web version, should I tweak levels to cover the full 0-255 range?

Any help will be appreciated.

yes - when in a 8-bit project, Vegas expects Studio RGB 16-235. So no need for adjusting levels for DVD output. However when monitoring on secondary monitor - check the "use color management" and "use studio RGB 16-235". Then it will compensate for the lower contrast and you will preview it correctly. When using the waveform or the vectorscope - there is also a check box for 16-235.

When outputting to any of the web-formats - I always output as computer RGB and the levels need to be adjusted. There is a preset in Color Corrector and the Levels plugin "StudioRGB to ComputerRGB"
