Letus35 vs. SGPRO r3 w/ follow focus

I have a DVX100B and will be shooting a 45min comedy and was looking at getting a 35mm adapter. I would have both indoor and outdoor shots. I would mainly use 50mm f/1.4 lenses.

I read that Follow Focus does the same thing as just adjusting the focus on the lens, so I was not sure if getting a Follow Focus was really necessary if that's the case. If that is the case, I think I like the Letus35 Extreme more because, IMO, it gives a more crisp picture.

Was wondering what everyone thinks about it because as I read on here, most of you have a SGPRO and was wondering what your opinions are.

(another guestion in audio if you could help

well what does happen? why can't i just use the manual focusring of the lense?

1) The focus ring is in front of the lens, touching it can cause unwanted shakes and vibration. It's also easier to control focus from the side of the camera (with an AC pulling focus).
2) There's no way to mark focus points on the lens for consistent focus pull. It's impossible to read the focus marks from behind the camera unless you have Superman's vision.
3) It's impossible to operate the camera AND pull focus at the same time if the subject moves or the camera moves. Just try it a few times and you'll understand. That's why first AC is a paid profession.

I use to think I didn't need a follow focus. Then I came onboard as first AC for a shoot that involved 35mm adapter. After that shoot, I ordered an FF unit immediately.

When I was choosing my adapter, I threw the letus and brevis out of the window fairly early on, mainly because the are vibrating adapters. There are afew posts on here that show frame grabs where the ground glass is visable. They say you cant stop down too much or the GG is visable, and if you get any dirt on the GG, you get a little ring of dirt that is sometimes visable on the frame.

The letus does give sharp images, but nothing the SGpro cant do if you set it up correctly and use the right lenses.

Between the SGpro with the flip unit and LEX, to me, there is no contest.

The LEX is really ugly too

I'm gonna have to disagree with Hoarp there. You can't go wrong with either one, but in capable hands the LEX is a monster. Check Phillip Bloom's latest short or Matt Workman's latest music vid. If you can't light and compose neither one of these great devices will help you in the in. And the LEX is sexy.
