Letus35 FE and accessories

Hi again,
Unless anyone can convince me otherwise, I think with my budget the $700 Letus FE is a no brainer. But I have some questions about how much else I will have to spend and on what.
First, I am also a still photographer who uses a Canon XT. Though I use auto lenses, I figured that if I were going to buy a bunch of primes I'd still like to be able to use them on my XT (even though for 35mm adapters you want manual F-stop control). Anyway, is it a big difference between Nikon and Canon for the Letus? I hear about the Canons not "locking in place"- though as I have not used a 35mm adapter I'm not sure exactly what that means or how big a deal that is. Should I just forfeit the use on my XT and go for the Nikons that "lock in place"?

Also, please advise as to whether support rods are necessary. I'm assuming they are advisable... what are the cheapest good ones and what specs do I need. I know nothing about them but hear about compatability problems with sizes of rods etc. What would be a good follow focus system to add, etc.?

Shooting on HVX.
thanks.

for the support part of my question I found these two:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=cart&A=details&Q=&sku=335222&is=REG

What is the difference between the two. One says "back and forward adjustable length" 250mm and the other is 200mm. What does this mean? They can't be adjustable up to 100" and 80" respectiively.

would I need this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=cart&A=details&Q=&sku=472623&is=REG ?

thanks.

ok. i was confused by the specs in B&H. So is the only difference between the two that one is 8" and one is 10"? And are either long enough? I've read some people getting 14", etc.

Any advice on Canon vs. Nixon as questioned in my first post?

thanks guys.

indiFOCUS and indiRAILS hands down. I recommend the 18 inch rails especially if you plan on using the heavy and long 70-210 macro zoom lens.

As for the lens, I use all Canon manual focus lens. I don't adjust the F stops on the lens though, so I'm not familiar with the problem you've heard about.

I just bought a Letus35FE and I have a Canon XT as well. Something I overlooked was that the XT uses EF mount, while the Letus35 is FD mount. Not a big deal but thought I'd point that out incase you overlooked it. You cant use your XT lenses on your Letus, but you can use your Letus lenses on your XT (with an adapter of course).

thanks guys,
The EF vs FD mount point helps. I think if I'd need an adapter I might as well go for Nikon lenses, which supposedly "lock in place" even though I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes. Like the look of your set up with the indiRails. I'll check that out.
thanks,

It's hard to see in the photo, but there is a support brace under the Letus. That is what the blue cord is attached too. Just when you're ordering the rails let Tim know you're going to use it with an adapter and he'll throw in the support brace. I think it's like 20 bucks or less.
