There is an interview available somewhere where the director tries to clear up the whole 15K myth. He says that a magazine interview tried to get him to value the equipment he used, and he said it was probably around 15k (of equipment). In later interviews he categorically states that although this was a low budget movie it cost a heluva lot more than 15k.
