Letus Rods Version 2 with HV20

I have the Canon HV20 and I decided to buy the Letus Extreme. But I never owned a 35mm adapter so I don't know what to buy. There are so many questions. I did search this forum.

For example I don't know if the Letus Rods Version 2 would work with HV20. Because it cost 700 $ maybe was meant to be used with a more expensive camera.

Also when you order you have the option to eliminate "V2 Front Support Bracket" which would cut 100 $ from the price. I really don't know what is that, and if I should eliminate that or not.

What is the difference between the Letus35 Support Rods Version 1 (V1) and Letus35 Support Rods Version 2 (V2) ? . Anybody knows that ?

When you order the Letus Extreme there are also a ton of questions on that page . Thread Size ? Lens Mount ? What should I choose ?

I will also send them a mail. NOt sure if they will respond to this amount of questions.

You can also call them directly, Hien is very responsive to questions. If you have an HV20 they would recommend the Letus Mini instead of the Extreme. A much smaller, lighter form factor for a smaller camera. The Extreme do not have a 43mm thread size so you'll have to buy your own step down rings to fit the HV20. Lens mount is dependent on what kind of lens you have. Canon FD and Nikon are the two most common (and cheapest) type.

The V2 rod system is much better than the V1 (which I have). For one thing it looks to be completely tool-less adjustment, which is a huge deal. Also the V2 front support bracket lowers the support rod instead of raising it like V1, which meant an overall more stable rig since the camera isn't raised all the way up.

Thank you for reply. On their support page it is stated they don't accept calls anymore, only vocal messages. I already placed similar questions on Pre-Sale questions forum.

I decided to buy the Extreme and the Support Rods Version 2 for at least 2 reasons. First, I'm going a little backwards buying first the serious 35mm adapter and the good quality rails and maybe later I will buy a better camera.

A second reason would be : In this town/country it is much more easier to rent a better camera, or even to borrow from a friend, than to rent a good 35mm adapter and rails and lenses. The problem would be - I never had 35mm adapters and lenses and so on..so I don't know exactly what to order. From the searches on this forum I saw a few pictures with Letus Extreme and Canon HV20 and the owners said they are working fine. So that part I hope it's ok and they are compatible.

I'm also presuming the HV20 works ok with the Support Rods Version 2. I hope I will receive a clear answer from the Letus support at least for this question.

You said : "The Extreme do not have a 43mm thread size so you'll have to buy your own step down rings to fit the HV20."

This is something I have to choose to be included with the Letus package ? Or I have to search in other places for that ?

As Canon FD and Nikon are the two most common as you said, probably that kind of lenses I will buy.

And now on top of the questions I have so far, I will have some specific questions if anybody want to answer - that would be nice.

Letus35 Extreme Starter Bundle - this seem to include everything I need/want.

1. Thread Size : 72mm ? 77mm ? 82mm ?
2. Lens Mount : 9 types to choose from including : Canon FD ? Nikon AI ? Canon EF ?
3. Additional Thread Size : do I need another thread size ?
4. Additional Lens Mount ?

Thank you very much :)
