Letus Rod Support System

The economy is basically the FE, with the guts of the extreme, so it's fine now without rails with a light prime. However i don't wanna push it, and i'm limited in my lens choice as a result.

speaking of weight, i wonder how the Letus Rails are going to compare in weight to the Cinevate rails. that's an issue too, esp if you want to hook up a handheld setup.

A thought... would it be possible to mount some attachment to the top of an adapter and just tie a wire or string onto the top hand-grip on the HVX to give support to the sytem and keep some weight off the threads? I thought of this a while ago and never tried it. I sold my FE to get an Extreme, which will require more support.

Hi All,

As demand has mounted, we will release our own version of the rod support within a month. And the riser will be high enough to get your matte box in service again. We will also work on the riser for the Cavision rail system if the demand is enough to justify the work.

This rod system will allow you to adjust the camera vertically as well as horizontally.

I do welcome inputs for another week before I finalize on the design (please nothing like I want the logo in the middle of the rod, but inside :-)

Thanks,

Hien

So "a month" from this post comes up on Wednesday! :cheesy: Any word, Hien? I've ordered my Letus Extreme a few weeks ago and am not going to be able to use it without supports. Are you gonna fill me on on when I can have Letus Rails shipped? Or do I need to go for Cinevate?

No news or updates? That's too bad because my Extreme should be here any day and I want to shoot a movie over Christmas break and I can't unless I get other rails. Bummer.

SnS, just buy the IndieRails. Tim is a great guy. He already has the size of the letus riser so it will fit for sure. depending on your camera, you can ask him to send you a higher block so it will fit perfectly. I had a problem with the indirails at first because the rods were a hair too small but Tim will send me new rods.

thanks strancali. I actually had the IndiRails and wasn't happy with them so i sold them- i'm going for an upgrade. They didn't feel professional enough to me, and mounting and dismounting the camera was not easy for me, trying to get my fingers in the rectangle block to tighten the screw, etc. I'm looking forward to what the Le bros. come up with, with the sliding positioning and everything. If I were to go with something now I'd get the CineVate probably. But I'm trying to wait to at least see the Letus thing.

Jeez

This thing is heavy,

So is there a concensus here on rails for the Letus Extreme?

Wait
Don't wait?
Looking for the best fit, and value
and
Duh-on't know what to do

Okay, so I'm being a glutton for punnishment right!
Maybe I should just take Hien up on swapping this Extreme that arrived 2 days ago for a currently shipping mini.

Letus Extreme #369

why do you want to switch from Extreme to Mini? Do you have a small camera? If you have an HVX or DVX don't do that.

Yeah, unless you have a small camera, I would stick with the Extreme as shortnstout says.

Rods should be ready in a couple of weeks. Believe me, they will be well worth the wait! Hien is brewing up something really nice in his lab of innovation!
