Letus problem!

During filming I often get the Letus not vibrating while the red button is turned on. Sometimes it vibrates. Sometimes it does not. Is this a common problem and does it require servicing? The latter is a problem because I'm in Europe and I don't see myself sending the Letus to the US for servicing. The production must go on. Advice. Help.

similar issues has been experienced by my fellow crew filming a movie. they
needed two letus extremes to finish the movie. probably it's the motor,
i don't think you can get away without servicing it. For long shoots i would
suggest you to have adapter with rotating glass, like blade, which you can
change very fast with no problems...

Service it.

Mine died in the middle of one of my biggest profile shoots to date...I was literally slapping the side of the Letus so the wires would connect to turn it on again. Pretty embarrassing, as it happened on the first day of production...

I got pretty skilled at dismantling the Letus. I had constant dust on the GG, condenser and prism. But I couldn't solve this problem, as it was related to the wiring that was covered by glue. I had one of the first Extreme's off the shelf, though, so not all of the kinks were worked out. I sent it back to Hien and they serviced it good as new.

Hope it's under warranty!

I think you just summed up the Adaptor shootout conclusion. Bottom line, the Letus vibrating adaptors will not last long and is not sturdy enough for a long projet. I've had mine since January. We had 15 consecutive shooting days. The Letus seems to be the weak link for reliability. Where do I get this thing serviced?

I still think it is a great adapter. There will always be a few here or there with issues.

Go to letusdirect.com and email Aaron about service

I shot a feature last summer with my extreme and for 29 days over a month and a half period and it never missed a beat. I'm shooting another feature with it now and I have never had an issue. So they can last for long periods of time, I was an early adopter too I got my LEX in late '07 and I shot with it as recent as today.

I purchased mine this year. What annoys me is that sometimes the red button will be on but the Letus ground glass will not be vibrating. The only way to know if the ground glass is vibrating is to put your hand on it to feel the vibrations or to do a visual close focus open iris check. The red light therefore does not tell you anything beyond the fact the letus "should" be running. Checking this information is up to you.
