letus help

[End of Fall]

Ok I just got done shooting today, I finally shot today with the Letus for the second time.

The 28mm was really soft after I set focus on GG.

All my shots are really dark, even the ones we had lighting for.

I'll post up the footage, I'm heading out to get a drink then I'll be back.


-- I want to try to get this down pat because my professor does a lot of music videos, and he's one of the DP's for T-Pains music videos he's doing I'm going to tag along and i figured i would bring my camera just to do some behind the scene kind of footage...

But I'm not ready yet until I can figure it out. But every time I post a question I seem to learn more and more. You guys are a lot of help and I can't say thank you enough.

What did I do wrong...


Two interviews then I was filming from a door way of a sick child, Joe Gamble was in the room trying to work with the child to take pictures.

I don't understand why my video is so dark.

What were you using to monitor the footage? On board LCD is notoriously unreliable for this.

Yes I'm using the on board LCD. I'm on some what of a budget currently.

In the LCD screen in most cases they're face looks REALLY red or somethings bright and then in FCP its dark.

I understand my 2009 unibody macbook isn't perfect for color correcting but I'm going to try to calibrate the monitor to try to get it a little better for video editing....

Im going to have to say... Try using you zebra settings, this happened one time before to me. With the zebras expose until you see the stripes then stop down a little bit. Shoot some practice footy.

whats your gain at? Aperture on both camcorder and lens?

I guess a way to look at this is, if your camcorder is at f 2.0, and your 28mm is 2.0, and the letus is losing 0.5 stops, then you really losing 4.5 stops of light. Even when I shoot in my apt. with all the lights turned on at night, it still under exposed. So you might have to either up the gain, to +3, or add more lights.

I had my camera wide open with the f stop on the 50mm for both interviews set at 2.8

The gain might have been at 0 due to the fact when I bumped it up a notch it got grainy as hell.


I'm not sure, I know I have a music video for tmrw that I'll be shooting just a scene of but I'm thinking I might just play around with it.

If anyone didn't notice the second interview the Letus wasn't on. Ha.

Your 50mm is pretty slow, might want to get faster glass. Like a 1.4
