Letus hardshell case: size?

Anybody here have a Letus system with the hardshell case Letus provides for it? I am curious as to the dimensions of the case (HxWxD), if someone can share that. Approximate size at least. Because I want to buy their Letus Extreme adapater, but I really prefer the black case they sell with their Letus Elite; so I might just buy a case off B&H instead of going with the more aluminum look case Letus bundles with their Elite system.

FWIW

My Letus Elite Cine bundle came with a "plastic" case. (Not particularly high quality but adequate) Its not here with me so sorry I can not supply the dimensions.

I decided to keep the adapter permanently mounted to my HVX so that fits perfectly in my Camera Case. I use the Letus case for my 7 Nikkor lenses and the Letus accessories eg PL mount , spoare batteries, lens cloths, focus control and focus rings etc..

Sounds like some $30 cases I saw on B&H that looked suspiciously like the cases Letus bundles their adapters with. So I am guessing I could get a case off B&H. But if you can get back with your dimensions of your case I would really appreciate it.

I am also hoping I could find a way to replace the red toned rod connectors that come with the Extreme with blue connectors such as come with the Elite. I know, ___ retentive, OCD, just an aesthetic issue with me.

Dimension is 18.5" x 14" x 5'' deep. (Slightly tapered sides)

Note the quality of the supplied insert is very good.

Thank you Shooter! Looks to me like the Letus Extreme "Bundle" simply means I would end up paying $100 for their case. I think I would rather just order their system non-bundled, get my own case from BH.

The Elite and Ultimate bundles come with a waterproof case that has inside dimensions of 18.5" x 14" x 4" deep (+1.75" lid space). The depth is the depth with the hard foam insert. The case itself is a little deeper.

The Extreme bundle comes with a standard case that has inside dimensions of 19" x 11.75" x 3.25" deep (+1.75" lid space). Again, the depth is the depth with the hard foam insert.

The advantage of these cases is they have a hard foam insert custom cut for the Letus gear. It's more robust than the pull-n-pluck type foam inserts.

If you plan to leave the adapter on the camera most of the time, then you may want to get a large custom hard or soft shell case that will hold the entire rig. The cases we offer are great for general storage and transport but if you do a lot of 35mm work, you may want a solution that allows you to keep everything assembled and ready to shoot.

I emailed Letus, got a link to the case for the Elite system.

$250 for the black case. Seems a bit pricey considering it is likely a piece of plastic with foam in it. It is listed now in the Letus accessories, not sure if it was there before but it is indeed there now for separate purchase. I might see about getting a $100 alternative case at B&H or elsewhere. $250 seems awefully steep.

I had exactly the same thinking as you..

I got Storm case, cheap.. but with no foam insert in it..

I can say you, it is practical unusable..

Pluck foam is not so cheap and it is not durable..

Put another 150$ in the game and you will be 100% satisfied with pre-done foam insert..

My 2 cents..

Well, I would go with Pelican pick-and-pluck all the way.
I have had mine for years now and sent them threw a lot of airlines(a lot of those loaders aren't exactly careful), and both has held up perfectly.
And you can find pretty cheap replacement pick-and-pluck foam at Ebay, I got a replacement kit there for 25 US dollars.

Two things to not. LetusDirect is not actually Letus. They're a reseller.

Second of all, Smettli is right about pick-and-pluck foam. It's nice stuff so long as you don't pick out a complicated shape like I did!

If you want to leave your whole rig assembled though, I'd recommend looking into Zacuto's foam fitted case inserts for Storm Cases. These things are awesome! Check out some pics. http://www.zacutoimages.com/p60914879/h3c94dcab#h3c94dcab
