Letus for Nikon is crooked?

Used the letus for the first time with a 70mm Nikon lens and when I mount it all up it's crooked.

I know it doesn't matter too much because I zoom the HVX this is mounted to beyond the edges but I have to zoom farther than I should to get past the crooked frame. It's as if the rig was drilled improperly but that doesn't make much sense...I don't know what to think. I was only doing some testing with it so luckily nothing went sour (image looks stunning really!).

I can loosen the three allen heads that hold the main big part of the Letus on to the HVX and rotate it so it's straight but then the red screw that supports the front of it won't line up at all, not even close. Is this normal?

You should be able to use all the adjustments to get it exactly level.

The movements wll be smaller than you might think.

Start by loosening off the one directly under the Letus.

Loosen off the rotational connection near the lens

Then shift the camera horizontally a lttle each way.

I didn't think to shift the camera itself horizontally. I'll try that next test setup. Thanks!

My Extreme took alot of adjusting, there are three bolts that connect the adapter to the thread mount ring, you have to have these loose and adjust it by hand then tighten each screw, watch the lcd to keep it perfectly in the center

Loosen the thumb screw that holds the adaptor to the rails. Loosen the 3 allen screws that attach the adaptor to the camera lens. Look through the viewfinder and see if you can rotate the adaptor to get things framed up. Once you get it where you want it, tighten the allen screws and then the thumb screw on the bottom of the unit. Worst case you can operate it without the thumb screw in place and use a zip tie or black electrical tape to attach the adaptor to the rail riser.

Mitch.
If the camera (his or yours) is shifted horizontally at the time the adapter is rotated...the Support hole for the adapter will line up and negate the need for tape or zip tie.
