Letus Extreme XHA1 Test footage

Hey everyone, just got my new letus extreme a week ago! Very excited to use it on my next short film. Anyway, I got lucky and my girlfriend's hairdresser allowed me to shoot some test footage in her salon after hours while my girlfriend got her hair done. Its just me, my XHA1+adapter, and my 503 tripod-- All practical lights, no monitor. I'm really loving the look! Enjoy!

Looks really good. Like a 16mm camera. What would happen if you cranked up the gain control? Would more light come in? How would it look?

Thanks. I'm not sure yet, I'll have to try it out. One thing I noticed is that the video got a bit darker after I uploaded it... it also looks a little more dark and even a bit redder on my other computer. I'm wondering if its my Mac or my other computer thats doing that. Anyway, I can't wait to shoot with actual lights, that'll be something!

Nice bokeh Kasey! Although the images do look a little too red on my screen.

Can you please tell me, how do you find the weight of the whole system (what does it weigh), can you use it hand-held or is it a case of everything needing to be shot from tripod?

At the moment I'm selling the last of my DVXs and with the proceeds I get from it I will invest in either a Letus or Brevis for my XH-A1. My biggest concern is ergonomics because most of my shooting is hand-held run & gun and when I see the size of these things fitted with rails I wonder if it will be practical for me.

would love to know your compression settings. My stuff on vimeo looks nothing like that. Very nice.

what kind of preset are you using for the xha1?
i have problems with sharpness in the lowlight areas of the xha1 + sgpro 35 adapter

Nice. I saw just a little vignetting on the left side but very nice footage. I actually like the warm look it has to it. I'm a Canon user myself, but I've been told that the Nikon 1.4 50mm is fairly sharp at f2.0 if you were looking for more light in that scene. I see that you were set at f2.8 and I was just wondering if you had tried 2.0.

Have fun!!

Woah, I didn't see any replies to this for a while, so sorry for the late answers!

Evro- I would say that I probably could handheld the entire system, but I'm not sure if I'd feel comfortable with it-- you know, expensive equipment + butterfingers and all. Its not too heavy at all really.

Papa- Hey, thanks! I just followed the tutorial on their site to get the best possible result-- http://vimeo.com/help/hd

xha1dude- I'm just using VividRGB, which seems to be the standard around here. I hear really good things about some preset called "truecolor" or something like that though, and I'll probably be doing some tests with that soon.

tex098- Yeah, I got to center my letus a little better. I am starting to wonder if my macbookpro monitor is a little off, because the flesh tones look much less red on that screen. Anyway, I was only set to 2.8 during that test shoot... i don't know why- probably because I heard that it was the "sweet spot" for that lense. Next test I'll fool around with it and show the results!

Thanks everyone! Man, i don't know how I ever shot without this thing!
