Letus EX questions

So my adapter arrived last night... yes the amount of joy is indescribable
but I have a few questions

first off, when I imported a few test shots... there seems to be some vignetting
whats everyones DVX settings around?
mine is at Z-72 / MF-60
does that seem about right? because id think everyone's settings should be about the same

also when dealing with the aperture, do i adjust it via the 35mm lens? or my dvx's iris?
i was thinking the 35mm lens but just figured id ask

Vignetting varies between different lenses (ie: focal lengths) and lighting situations.

As for aperture, vibrating adapters are known to show actual GG grain with apertures (on 35mm lens) smaller than f4 (eg: f5, f11 etc..). So pending on taste, f1.8 - f4 is the 'safe' zone.
Aperture on camera can be used like "nd" to manipulate exposure, but generally as you are already loosing light with the adapter, best to have camera aperture at it's max (eg: f1.8) keeping in mind when zooming in to crop GG your camera probably won't be able to stay wide open, so there is some more light loss.
:)

Yes, it does vignettes some what by using the Letus Extreme with certain focal lengths. That is why I posted this thread regarding this problem a while back. Now Letus has come up with a "optimization kit" which cost around $350 depending on your situation. You may want to check this thread too.

opps im sorry myCharlie, i ment the letus EXTREME, i can see where you made the mistake
thanks though
and thanks charles, good to know

on my DVX I am at 64 MF and 75 Z to make sure I dont get any vignetting from the adapter. with one lens I still get a tiny bit vignetting, but very minimal, whereas with another lens there is absolutely no vignetting.

i never adjust the aperture using the stops on the 35 lens, I always use the dvx aperture or ND filters. be careful with stopping down too much on the DVX, you could end up seeing the grain on the ground glass

Just got my Letus 35 Extreme. Look impressive.
I have one little question: Is there a screw that attaches the unit to the support bracket? I have a shot planned where I need to turn the camera upside down and am concerned about supporting it like this.

yes it a screw that comes with the support bracket

Yeah, now I feel like a moron...

Question, I have some pick up shots for the desert car shoot I've been working on. How well sealed is the unit, do I need to wrap it in plastic to protect it?

Oh, and does it mind rechargeable batteries?

Thanks,
