Hi

I am working with a Letus 35 and as far a focusing goes...it just a crap shoot and done by eye. How can one be certain that crical focus is achived working with a DVX100b and Letus 35?

Thanks,
C

You absolutely have to use an external monitor to ensure critical focus. If you are relying on the LCD or EVF, then you can expect to misjudge your focus about 25% of the time or more, depending on what lenses you are using. Wide angle lenses are much more difficult to judge because of the greater depth of field.

If you are doing anything serious with a 35mm adapter, you must, absolutely must use an external monitor.

He's right. Tip I got from Timur. If you're using a Marshall or any other downscaling HD monitor set your HVX output to 1080 not 720 (no matter what you're shooting on). The difference is astounging. Output at 720 looks like kaka. 1080 is tack sharp.
