Letterboxed 24p to 16x9 DVD

Hi All,

I shot my film in 4x3 and then manually letterboxed it in FCP. Now I'd like to make a DVD using DVD studio Pro and have it act like it was shot in 16x9. Is this possible?

Yes - everybody in the SciFest forum is doing this right now, but the quick and dirty answer is, crop the output of Compressor by 61 top and 61 bottom (or so), and tell compressor to output as a 16x9 Mpeg2 file.

I tried your tip and had a couple of problems: When I chopped the 61 pixels on top and botton and opened it in DVD studio Pro, I lost some of my image. I was going to try it with no cropping, but now the Compressor files crash both my finder and DVD studio pro whenever I try to access them. My mac has been crash free for two years, so it's got to be something with these files. Any thoughts?
