I figured this would an easy search topic but somehow I'm just not finding it.
I'm capturing 4:3 letterboxed footage. The capture window expands out to 16:9 and stretches the footage to fit when the capture starts.
Under Preferences/preview tab, changed the pixel aspect ratio to .9091(ntsc DV). Now the preview looks correct. Its 720x480 as I would expect.
The problem is that I am still getting stretched clips even though the capture window looks correct; i,e. if I go into my hard drive and pull up a clip outside of Vegas, it plays as stretched 16x9.
Project Properties are set to 720x480 ntsc dv 29.97/lower field first/.9091 ntsc dv.
Question is why are my 4:3 letterboxed clips being stretched out to 16:9 and how do I change this so that clips capture and display as letterboxed 4:3 ?
many thanks in advance,
g
ps--one thing the search function did do is convince me to ditch the letterboxing and use the tape instead.
