Letter template for soliciting film investment?

I tried to google it, but couldn't find anything usable. Do you know of a good and legal letter sample to present to potential investors? I used to have them but can't find them on my computer anymore. I need something ASAP. Thanks!

Rather than looking for a letter template, you probably should go looking for a lawyer - he'll certainly have one. When you start soliciting investors, you can very quickly run afoul of SEC and IRS rules in a very painful way. This is definitely something that should NOT be DIY but handed off to an expert who knows how to do it right. Bite the bullet and pay the fee, it'll be the cheapest option in the long run.

Thanks for the advice, Steve. I don't have the money to pay a lawyer. I want a template.

Does anyone know where I can find a template? thanks.

There's a technical term for people who solicit investors in risky ventures without legal advice as to the necessary proformas and disclosures. They're called "inmates" ... find the money for a consulatation.

Are you suggesting a prison library? LOL

LOL, no. But seriously, the rules about public solicitation for investments of any sort are so complex and the penalties for violating them potentially so severe that it's one area where you definitely need both professional legal and professional accounting advice before venturing into it. Overlooking some obscure rule could easily snowball into a disaster. oing it yourself from templates could very easily result in that prison library being your only reading material for a long period of time - like brain surgery, it's not a place for DIY.

I found a software I had bought for business plans. I'm going to use that to generate a business plan that can be used to present to accredited investors.

Ultimately (you're right) the investment letter will be checked by an attorney. We have an entertainment attorney, in fact.

Filmman, what software did you get for business plans. I've written a few before, but it's been a while and I need to get geared up for a long form project that seems to be coming together nicely.
