lets talk about heads

OK. So awhile back this guy told me that a Sachtler 25-75 head meant it was for cameras 25 to 75 pounds.

This didn't really make sense since there a few cameras that weigh that much.

When I told him I thought it meant 75MM bowl for cameras up to 25 pounds,
I was basically blasted for being a bloody idiot.

What does it actually mean?

Write a letter to Sachtler and see what they say, or visit their WEB site. Many old film cameras weighed a ton, Mitchells, etc... anyways it's a silly thing to scrap over.

Sachtler is a German company, so they're not going naming models based on pounds anyway. However, their heads are heavy duty, so it's possible one of the numbers refers to the capacity in kilograms. A Sachtler head that only had a maximum capacity of 25 pounds would be one of their smallest heads. Like the man says--check the site.
