Lets start a fight.

* Apple has been unhappy with Motorola's processors for several years and they made a good move.

* These "Intel" chips you speak of aren't synonymous with "Microsoft", nor are they the same processors as Windows units. :)

These aren't the intel chips you're looking for...

But why ?

I don't do the laptop.

So.... Dong !

Exactly.

Laptops are great for office/net/student/jotting ideas down type stuff.

If you want to do some serious work, working with serious peripherals, get a workstation.

As for the Intel vs Apple thing...I don't feel like fighting Gates and Jobs' old war. That's really what everyone does. It's more about politics than productivity. Either you're talented or you're not. It doesn't matter what in the hell computer you're using.

I done pretty well on a laptop. Can't afford both.

Cool man, this goes back to, "Either you're talented or you're not. It doesn't matter what in the hell computer you're using." that I said.

Workstations just enabled you to do a lot more expansive things beyond the computer. I couldn't imagine using a laptop for my music production. I have too many DSP type stuff I like to run.

I 'm not the music stud like you Noct but I do orihinal music on a 25 key midi controller, an M Audio firewire Interface with spdf in out and switchable pahntom power and its powered via firewire, lol, and two M Audio studio speakers.

I also do compositing and VFX work from my little G4 1.67 GHZ with 1.5 GB ram.

The only things I would be wary of would be running Shake and Hi Def.

But these days I think it's just more of an issue of 4 cylindar vs. 6 cylinder. The 4 cylendar does every thing the 6 cylender does, but is slower going up mountains and off the starting line, but you still get there. Of course if you want to tow a boat (hi def) then yes you need a six cylinder.

They make all those peripherals for laptops with no or few limitaions.

But I multi tracj, do midi, record VO or vocals or instruments, do compositing, do motion graphics and VFX in MOTION and soon AFTER EFFECS, and all in real time excpt for motion and that usually is a 6 second clip or so that takes like 3 seconds to render.
