less video noise

Re: less video noise

I have found the dynamic noise reducer to work well only on clips without motion. When there is motion there is an annoying trailing effect that occurs. But on rahter still clips it works fine. As to how you install it, I believe, if I remember right, you just drag the plugin into your plugins directory. But it has been a while so I can't remember exactly.

Re: less video noise

If you take a noise-reduced motion clip with the “blur” side-effect, put it on an upper track, put the original clip below it, and then reduce the opacity of the noise-reduced clip by about 25% (more or less to taste), you can sharpen the image (remove most of the blur) yet still keep most of the noise out. It’s a trade-off, of course.

...from Pain Shop Pro 7.

They have software for that now? No more having to go down to the bad part of town? Cool.

Thanks a lot for this x2mag68, and your tip, too David. It came at just the right time.

Re: less video noise

no prob.  If you lessen the strenghth to like level 10, it doesnt trail so much. andstill gets rid of like 80% of the noise.  of course theres 0 noise at level 40, but if anyhtign moves like was stated above it looks like youre on acid.

you can even boost gain to 3 db and noise reduce it and it looks liek standard footage. Nifty for situations desperate for light.
