Lense Selection Advice

Hi Guys,

I'm very close to taking the pluge with buying a 35mm adapter setup. I'm leaning
towards the Brevis35 MP.2 with rails. Anyway, I'm completely ignorant as to
what I need as far as lens go.

At this point, I can't afford Zeiss so I've heard really good comments about the
Nikon lens. With that said, I was told a good starting point in the kit would be
an overall general lense, a wide angle and a tele to start.

Can anyone offer some suggestions for these three lens to start with? i.e. Model
number, name etc.

Also, I was told I could invest in a Zoom lens from Nikon (FD Series I believe) for
zooming abilitly. Any suggestions would also be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Best.

I would recommend...
—Nikon 50mm f/1.4
—Nikon 28mm f/2 or 2.8
—Nikon 85mm f/2 to 2.8 or 135mm f/2.8

Having those will get you started. Make sure they are clean of dust and fungus. They don't have to be new at all, but having it be mechanically sound and the glass clean is imperative.

Also, next time try searching the forum. All of the information you have asked in both of your threads has been extensively talked about in prior threads. If you don't like having to wait 60 seconds between searches, try going to google and typing in "site:dvxuser.com <your search>"
i.e. site:dvxuser.com lens recommendations.

Cheers,

basically you would want 3 lenses to start.
the 3 lenses are for
-wide shots (20mm-35mm)
-medium shots (50mm-55mm)
-colse up shots (85mm-135mm)

I think the zoom lens they are making reference to are "ED", I would not get any of the Manual Focus Zoom lens, as they were hit or miss (From what I heard and read). The "ED" ones are AF (Auto Focus), and some of the ones I have used are the 17-35mm 2.8 AF, its a nice lens but not as fast and in some cases as sharp (Again could be the copy I was using, I have seen some really good stuff out of this lens else where) as my AIS lens. Another good lens is the 80-200 AF-S, they made different versions of this lens, the copy I was using was a little off but it looked ok. The "FD" is also a series of Canon lens made in the 80s....

I would recomend the Nikon AIS series and the following lens to start with, a 50mm 1.4, 28mm 2.8, and 85mm 2.0. I owned the 85mm 2.0 and it was as sharp as my 1.4. I really liked that lens, it was also cheap (150ish). This set should be less then $300 USD.

I have Nikon AIS - 20mm 2.8, 28mm 2.0, 35mm 1.4, 50mm 1.2 , 55mm 2.8 micro, 85mm 1.4 and love them. They are more money but I have more flexibility.
