Lens Shield ????

Hey Everyone,
Is it ok to remove the little metal shield covering the lens. I always think the white letters printed on the black will reflect back from the camera side of a filter or Wide Angle / Anny lens.

What could happen ? Flare, lens fall off, forget the focal lengths ?????
Hmmm ....

Re: Lens Shield ????

There's a way of doing this and I don't think it will be a big problem but I have to say the lens shield is kind of insurance for your lens protection. If that gets damaged in any way, you'll have to replace the camera

Re: Lens Shield ????

Hey Everyone,
Well at the risk of damaging & replacing my camera, I removed the little plastic flange & painted the back of it Ultra Flat Black (the greatest color in the world) replaced it backwards, flat side out and all is fine. FYI

The letters were showing up in my shots. Very Bad.

May help Yall', may not. Just thought I'd share.

please show a picture of where the letter were in your shots
i didnt know the lens could even focus on those.

Re: Lens Shield ????

Yeah... please give us some specifics about what conditions you were shooting in and post stills if possible. That's very interesting.

Re: Lens Shield ????

Hey Guys,
I will pull a a still. I don't know how to post stuff thou. Basically I has shooting into the sun with a Pol. in the first slot, Blue grad in the 2nd, & a Coral 5 in the third. BAM !! White letters.

Black paint is the trick. If you don't do glass filters, don't worry, Be Happy !!

But if not, paint the little sucker now, not after you get the Letters of Death.

See yea, Steve
