lens scratched on rear element...

Hey everyone,

I just purchased a frickin' super speed prime today! T1.1 and OMG is it great!!!

The only concern I have is that it has a scratch on the rear element of the lense. Now here's the thing, the lens covers S16. I will be only using it for regular 16mm. The scratch is closer to the edge than it is towards the middle. It's not totally on the edge yet def. not in the middle of the element. Will the scratch effect my regular 16mm image? If so, how badly? Thanks.

depends how wide is your lens ....a scratch on a 9.5mm won't affect the image the same way it would on a 180mm.....

(if I were you I'd post a pic of your lens to have a better idea of what scratch where... just an idea...)

The thing you can do is circle the scratch with a black sharpie, put your lens on a camera, aim the camera toward a very bright source o flight (a tweenie?), open all the way the stops, and see how obvious the scratch stands out.... (you'll be able to take the sharpie off with acetone... if your lens is actually made of glass of course)

Sorry, I forgot to post the focal length. It is a 25mm lense so fairly wide. I didn't think that it would affect it too much seeing that it is a wider lens. I will go ahead and post some pics as soon as I can. Any more info in the meantime would be appreciated though. Thanks.
