Lens scratch!!

A cameraperson unfortunately got a nice scratch across our lens, so there is a small slightly-blurry bit that now registers on our footage, in the corner of the screen... *sigh*

Any ideas about getting a new lens? Where to get it replaced? Or if it's at all possible to buff out a scratch in an existing one?

Any ideas at all???? Help!!!

There are companies that resurface optical glass and optical mirrors, however this will result in a change of MM....

A other option is to get the element replaced contact manufacturer.

Alot of people work for 4+ years in grip, then move to camera this is where I noticed camera equipment gets damaged, I'm sure not all grip are bad...

Actually it is helpful. Its letting him know what to have on the camera after they get it fixed.

I thought it was helpful also. I was going to say the same thing.
This might scare a few dozen people into making a wise $100 purchase.
On top of the protection you get, I've had several times where the lens got misted or other debris and it was quicker to remove the clear one and keep shooting.
I feel for you. Let us know how much your solution costs.
I wish you well.

I've always heard it's impossible to fix a scratch in a lens and have the same quality of lens after the fix. I must admit though, I'm guilty of not using the UV filter myself a lot of times on my video camera but it's always on my still camera.

Oh Ted, I just recognized your name. You've got a Newtek VT also. We may be the only two on this whole board that have them. That's a nice looking studio you've got there...
