Lens recommendations

Hi,

I own a DVX100b and I'm getting a RedRock M2 adapter for a film I'm planning to produce next summer. Can someone recommend some quality, affordable Nikon lenses I can pick up for this? I'm looking for a regular lens, a wide lens and a moderate zoom lens. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Sadly this is an odd question, as affordable is subjective for each person.....as is normal and wide to different people.....and as for zoom, this is only a distinction that a lens can change focal lengths(and moderate...this is HIGHLY subjective).

more specifics are needed from yourself.

Well, I've been thinking of a 50mm Nikon lens (regular), a 24-35mm wide angle lense and a 80-200mm zoom lens. This is just from some research I've done online. Seeing how I don't know much about lenses, I'm looking for any recommendations from people who do or have used a similar setup. Basically, if someone was going to shoot a film tomorrow using a DVX100b and a Red Rock adapter, what lenses would they want and/or recommend to use.

Im using Sigma 20/1.8, 24-60/2.8 (24-70 is quiet heavy...), nikon 35/2 and 85/1.8 for my m2e (w/sony z5)
I suggest using prime lens rather than zoom lens. zoom lens picture on m2e not share enough.

my favorite lens is 85/1.8 =)

read kenrockwell.com, the "manual lens reviews" for nikon nikkors. That has been really helpful for me.

Since I posted once in here and never responded, I'll let you know what the BEST 50mm is....I actually avoid saying it too often, cause I don't want to help dry up the market for them, lol...The Pentax Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4 Super Multi Coated(not the version with SMC on the rim, but actually has "Super Multi Coated" spelled out)

I love this lens, pure and simple.

It is an M42 mount though, so you'll have to get an adapter for whatever mount you have......it's so worth the cash.

what's the street price on that lens, Nick? what makes this a great lens? thanks for sharing as I haven't been made aware of this lens.

I always thought the best 50mm was the Nikon 50mm f/1.2 dubbed the King of Bokeh, fast speed and 9 blades for beautiful bokeh.

Well the number of blades comes in at 8, so it also has some insane Bokeh. I recently picked up a non-SMC version(more susceptible to flare) for a paltry $50. The "Super Multi Coated" can be found at $100-200.

It's a super lens, and although the Nikon 50mm f1.2 is a wonderful lens as well....I'll be sticking with my baby :)

See I like mine cheap, fast, AND beautiful
not to mention radioactive...lol! The Takumar actually contains thorium and needs to be occasionally(once every 10-15 years) exposed to UV radiation to remove visible by-products of the thorium.

No worries though, the amount of radiation is as much or less then background radiation(that which exists naturally on earth and smacks us around all day).
