Lens Mount Question

Hey guys,

Starting to look seriously into building an adapter of my own. I've done some other good equipment by my own design, and now I'm going to try to build a spinning glass 35mm adapter. I've worked with and taken apart a Redrock Micro, so I have an idea of the simple, yet genius construction.

My question here is:

I've been searching this morning for a way to mount the lens to the front of my adapter. I'm going to build a box similar to the one used for the Redrock, so I will need to have a lens mount or adapter on the front of it. I've seen the HD-35 thread and how he attached his lens mount, and feel that that could be the beginnings of how to do it. What are some examples of mounts that I could buy on eBay that would work for what I want to do? When searching on eBay, I'm totally lost in terms of what I'm going to be able to mount to. I have not yet decided on what lenses I want to use, buy it likely will be an EF Canon mount or an F Nikon mount. So either of those, some examples on eBay would help a lot with a little explanation. Thanks!!!

The Canon EF mount will give you more options than just about anything else right now. And it gives you a lot of industry support because people are adapting all kinds of lenses to fit on the 5D/7D.

That's how I'd go if I was building this unit. The F-Mount is nice, and I have mostly Nikon glass, but it fits onto my Canon just fine with $15 adapters.

ASchear,

Tho i have since moved on to using a 7d DSLR for the "35mm look", I started with making a mid format then a 35mm adapter years back,

Here are three threads among the many that showed my work.

some pics and links may have been gone now due to DVXuser quota issues.

I would go for F mount nikon, since most of the nikon F mount have manual aperture rings and the older canon mount, I think the EF is difficult to mount in a diy setup.

The newer eos mount lens dont have aperture rings.

I have since used my old nikon lens now on my 7D via an adapter.
