Lens from still camera

What would happen if you put a lens from a digital still camera on the DVX providing you had the right adapter rings? I am not talking about G35 or M2 but like a Nikon whatever size lens. I am sure the heavier lenses will need to have rails attached to support it. Has it been done? If so, were the results good or bad? I am just curious.

It is possible to mount such a lens, but what is it you are trying to accomplish?

Besides the mounting issues, there would also be losses from the additional elements in the opcial path. At best, you might be able to get an effectively longer lens (slightly), but with the typical diameters of these types of lenses, a wider angle would likely suffer from vignetting problems.

In the end, I don't see any practical reason to consider this exercies.

yeah, i was wondering the same. How big is the difference between digital and film photography lenses when working with a 35mm adapter?

One difference to consider is that many "digital" lenses use an "equivalent" focal length rating in place of their actual focal length. This would have to be taken into account if you wanted to use a lens of this type in a focus screen adapter (projected image) application.
