Lens filter

I've just attached a Kalimar Skylight filter to my DVX which I intend to be there forvever as a lens protector.
Am I compromising the quality Leica lens would deliver without it?

I'm not familiar with that brand, so I can't really speak of its quality. However, I keep my UV filter on at all times.
 
You are only as good as your filter. Buy a cheap filter... I suggest you
buy B+W filters on Ebay, you can get them new for a good price.

so he'd be cheap? :grin: just kidding.

there wouldn't be a compromise. unless you are using an effects filter, color filter or one that alters the image in anyway, but a clear filter like a UV or even just a straight clear glass filter won't affect the image.
