I have received by SGBlade a few weeks ago. I am testing several lenses right now accorting to sharpness, speed, handling and bokeh.

the lenses I am testing right now are Canon FD´s. Right now I am wandering if there will be much difference between a 50mm 1.8 and a 55mm 1.2. Has anyone experience with them.

will the 1.8 to the 1.2 make a huge impact on bokeh ?
how do the FD´s compare to the Zeiss Primes in respect to sharpness and bokeh ?

I've own the Canon FD 50mm f1.8, f1.4 and now an f1.2L and I can say that the difference in sharpness is considerable. The 50mm f1.4 easily outperforms the 1.8, the f1.2L is a step above that but not quite as large a gap. If you're looking at the 55mm f1.2 then you really want the Aspherical version of the lens as it is far superior to the regular version.

I love Canon FD; I think they're the best bang for the buck as far as lenses for 35mm adapter use. The 85mm f1.2L and 135mm f2 especially are excellent lenses, both incredibly sharp with great bokeh when stopped down.

I totally agree. The price performance ration is great for the FD´s.

BTW. I love your "Thinking of you" short movie. Well done. How did you do the slow zomm in ? Dolly ? Zoom lens? Slider ?

That's pretty expensive for just a 2.5. I got my f2 for $140. I would not pay anymore than $70 for an f2.5
