Lens Cases

I am beginning my search for a hard lens case that I can use to put all of my lenses in; something that would accommodate a mix of zooms and primes. Right now I am leaning towards a Pelican 1437 with the dividers. It seems like it is a good size to accommodate what I have and room to grow. I'm thinking that some larger zooms could go in the lower section and shorter zooms / primes in the top but before purchasing I wanted to see if I'm perhaps overlooking another option.

Pelicans are great but keep in mind, many of the cases themselves weigh 20lbs or more if you are flying. So it's easy to max out to 50lbs with just a few items, then you have to buy and check another case for the rest of your lenses unless you want to pay overweight baggage charges. If you are NOT flying, Pelican/Storms are great although there are cheaper versions that cost less.

I will not be flying with this particular case; it's more for local / driving gigs where I have the luxury of bringing more gear. I would LOVE to hear about some the alternatives though too. If I can shave some dollars off an expense that's always a great thing.

If you're not flying/shipping, a "lens backpack" can be something to consider. I have several Petrol backpacks(now rebranded Sachtler) and one of them I had been using as a lens backpack. I could fit 5 Canon CN-E primes, a 70-200, Arri MMB-1 matte box w/flags, (5x) 4x5.65 filters, FF, rods, accessories and even a 5D. I could even slide in my smallHD monitor. Plus a power supply in one of the outside pockets.

I also just got a hard case for my primes. I designed a custom foam insert at http://www.mycasebuilder.com, because none of the pre-made set-ups (Jason Cases, Filmtools, etc.) were exactly what I wanted, and I bought the Pelican from B&H(less expensive than buying it completely from MCB). As a bonus, I got exactly what I wanted and it was much less expensive than buying "off the shelf".
