lens advice

Hey guys,
I'm shopping around for a good 35mm lens at great prices and I'm simply lost. Can you guys recommend and good lenses for me?

thanks

For use on what type of camera? Motion or still, prime or variable, flat field or anamorphic? Just too many degrees of freedom at this stage to give any decent answers.

What kind of lens mount does the Letus35 take? Presumably Nikon, I guess, but we'd need to know for sure before quality advice can be given.

I'm interested in getting a nikon as it's a bit cheaper. buying this new house is killing me $$ wise so the more I can save the better.... kinda.. lol

Honestly, I'd like to buy the best that $500 or under can buy for the lens.

anyway I didn't get it yet but it's paid for already. I should have it monday the latest. I love the images that it provides and have discussed it in detail with a few people including my homeboy LlyodC..... I can't wait to put some footage together to see what I can achieve with it.

so, any advice?

coffee, if you're getting a nikon mount check out the guerilla35 forum. There is a link in the lenses section that reviews a lot of different Nikon primes. Just to use my recent purchases as an example, I paid about $50 for a 50mm and about $120 for a 28mm on Ebay. Keep us up on the quality of the Letus35. It'd be a lot cheaper for me than the G35.

hey coffee... did you tell Quyen to put a Nikon or Canon mount on? You can't switch them (he does have a conversion thingy, but that's $100 I believe).

You can't take the mount off, so you're stuck with either a canon or a nikon.

Either way, definately get an array of lenses... a wide angle (18, 24, 28mm), definately a 50mm (I got one for $20 at London Drugs, mint condition), and an 80-100 telephoto...

Heard e-bay is great for lenses, so I'm going to try there too

LloydC,
The question I had about the Letus35 was the vibrating mechanism. How loud is it? Does it cause any problems when shooting, i.e. focusing, etc. Thanks for the advice.

not loud at all. if you have a shotgun mic and boom pole, you definately won't hear it.

Focusing is smooth and easy, atleast for the DVX. I know some people with 58mm thread cameras had problems with a shaky focus, but with the DVX, I don't have a problem

to add to what LloydC said, you can request to extend the wires so that you can move the power source at will or you can simply splice the wires longer yourself. I asked to have the wires longer.

Hey LlyodC, I should have mine in hand on Monday...

The Letus35 sounds too good to be true.. is this available for a dvx 100, the web site says $300.00 ?

Does anyone have a photos showing how it attaches to the DVX, rods needed etc..

Looks like it was developed for a smaller camera and the dvx was an afterthought, but for 300.00 it almost too tempting as others sell for over 1 K.
