I bought a used 100a in great condition with only 11hrson it, and it came with an $800 Century .7x wide angle lens for the DVX100. I put it on and there are huge amounts of abberation!
I attached a screen grab showing the normal lens and the .7x lens on a sharpness chart that I made (the chart is actually surprisingly close to a real one, but not quite). The wide angle lens doesn't lose much sharpness, but there is that color separation...
I have a $20 .6x 37mm wide angle for my little camera, and it doesn't have this bad of abberation! I'd think that an $800 lens would give a decent image!?! Or do all wide angle lenses do this? Is it something I'm doing?
Everything in the setup, lighting, camera settings is identical, except that I zoomed and refocused with the WD lens to get the same shot (but there was abberation the whole time).
Here's the image
