Lenovo laptops

If it weren't for the OS and Pro Applications, Pro Mac Laptops would be the worst buy ever- outdated specs, NO BLURAY burning, expensive RAM upgrade...

For someone whose workflow is Mac centric, this p%sses me off!

Keeps getting crazier, now for $999 you get:
2.4 ghz dual core CPU
Dedicated nvidia graphics
wifi ready
BLU RAY recordable drive
XP Pro (rumors of its demise are greatly exaggerated)

awesome deal on the lenovo. does anyone have the blue ray burner on their laptop?

I don't have it yet, but I just saw on their site that they're having a sale on blu-ray burners for the Lenovo laptops with an UltraBay. $137.50 for a blu-ray burner! You can't buy it after the fact (or else it's $499), you have to buy it with the laptop.

quick question. Barry or anyone, please explain.

Ok, I customizing a lenovo but there is something I'm a bit confused about. The ultrabay, I heard Barry said he could have a second Hard Drive if he wanted. Does that option comes standart or I have to get something for that. I'm ordering the R61 series, nVidia.
I'm getting the blueray burner option...is that the Ultrabay? if yes, can it be swaped for HD? do I need extra conectors?

I just about to click buy but wanted to make sure of this before hand.

Thanks to all of you for very helpful posts. my inexpensive P2 reader became a expensive laptop...how did that happened?

Thanks

The R61 has an UltraBay port. The Blu-Ray burner is an UltraBay device. You can eject it and put in another UltraBay device if you want (such as a hard drive bay, or a secondary battery, etc). If you want to mount a second hard drive in there you'd need to buy an empty hard drive UltraBay device to mount the hard disk in.

Hello.

I just got my new Lenovo today (R61 series) (p2 offload but maybe editing as well)...I have a very small red dot on my screen...is that a dead pixel? I heard people using that name but I had never seen one before. Is it worthy to send it back? is a pain in the neck to go through all of that..but I think it'll be a bother along the way. ahhhh... don't like this.

does this happens a lot?

my first time.

the pixel may just be stuck. you can google stuck pixels and try some of the solutions people have.

Does anyone have a Lenovo Z61m, 2GHz, 100gb HDD, 2GB RAM, or similar? Just curious what your thoughts are. Is it sufficient for capturing HD footage and editing?
