Lengthy FireWire for capturing DVCpro50 and HD? Yay or nay?

I know there are a few brands, read about the repeaters and for the pricing compared to P2 storage, I'd rather have a good length of wire running to a laptop than rent those out. But that's just speculation.

Does anyone have ANY idea how this tends to pan out, though? I've seen that Barry Green used 30 feet of firewire on "Siren", or something like that, but was that for audio or video?

Used 25' this last weekend, had no problem. 90+ gigs of 720HD captured, no glitches ot dropouts that I've found.

What brand did you use? I'm thinking of going higher than 30, but I do know that you may need a repeater in doing so.

Unibrain cables allow you to run more than 25' (without repeater)...but up to 100mbit. Not sure about DVCPRO, but this is fine for DV.
We use them all the time with a focus FS4 DV 4 Channel mixer
Keep in mind, this will hinder data transfer as it can only run 1/4 speed of the firewire spec (for Hard drives, burners etc).
Hope that helps,
