I have a few questions about filming legal depositions and using the HVX, if that's ok:
Regarding what to capture to and masters:
Would it be acceptable to capture with a laptop and use the laptop as a monitor? Also, along these same lines could it be considered acceptable to capture (via my laptop) to an eSATA 2 drive enclosure that is a raid 1 for redundancy? That way I would be making two copies at the same time. I could buy cheap HDD's for each deposition and even deliver them as masters if necessary (if it was necessary that I had no remaining copy of the deposition)
Also, most people talk about capturing to tape and vhs at the same time. What about capturing to the setup mentioned above, as well as a tabletop "on-the-fly" DVD burner.
Would one recommend doing one or both of these above options in case something goes wrong with one or the other? Are these "newer" technologies being accepted in this line of work?
I had also considered using the cineporter to record to, or recording to tape and laptop. Or recording to tape and dvd, if it were necessary to record to dv tape instead.
One last one:
I know that it is not necessarily required to be certified, but thinking that it might be beneficial, does anyone happen to have any links/info that I can find out more about what that process entails, and the costs etc.
Thanks
Jason
