LED Rec

I'm looking for a reliable LED set up that will be easy to use and transport. Artificial lighting is new to me, but I'll be looking for a setup that I can mainly use for interviews (maybe 3-point lighting)

Since I'm a newb to artificial lighting, I was hoping for some recommendations for LED lights. Litepanels seem nice, but are potentially out of budget for me, and I don't know how the more affordable lights compare. Are they the better deal?

Thanks for any info.

We did an LED review on LitePanels, Coollights and Kelvin Tile products here –

http://www.studioscotland.com/litepan_review.htm

Plenty of photographs and behind the scenes.

We travel to various countries which require interviews, with the need to still be creative with lighting.

We are able to flat pack 2 LED 600 8”X8” Coollights units and a LitePanels Mini plus and various accessories as carry-on. I should add that we generally have a minimum crew of 3 for overseas projects and we can (at a push) decant Lighting, Audio and a fully kitted out Sony PDW-700 between us.

For driving around our own country in the UK, the LED equipment helps us work quickly and efficiently, particularly with the option to provide power via the V-Lock attachments when mains power or time is an issue.

As you say LitePanels are very expensive, however without a doubt, the LED 600 Coollights are great value for money and we use them regularly.

Have a read of the review; it should answer most of your questions.

Thanks Stu! At about 1/4 the price of the Litepanels 1x1 and double the light output, its quite usable indeed. Lots of info around here too, you can search the lighting forum looking for "LED 600", "Cool Lights LED", etc.

Thanks guys. That info was great Stu!

And it looks like you offer great products Cool Lights. I'm possibly going to buy some of your lights.
