LED panel burn?

I just purchased some Dracast LED1000 Plus bi-colors and threw my AB gold mount batteries on them. After a minute or so I noticed the smell of burning electronics. I quickly removed the batteries and tested the lights on AC power and they seem to work fine so far. I haven't thrown the batteries back on again though and it's the weekend so I'm waiting to hear back from Dracast.

Has anyone else experienced this with LED lights? It's a little discouraging since I've heard only good things about these panels.

I would call customer service and make sure you are using the correct batteries, all the reviews on B&H seem great..

interesting...Dracast told me that sometimes their lights will due this due excess solder chemicals burning off and that it's normal. i have used the batteries on the lights since and have not noticed any smell.
