Lectrosonics Wireless

Hey everyone, Ive been doing production sound mixing for just over a year now and was looking to get serious with my wireless.

The good stuff is still a bit more than what I am looking to spend, so I am looking into the Lectrosonics 190 or 195 line.

Im looking to pick up two lav transmitters, a "buttplug" and 2-3 receivers.

Basically, what is the difference between the two and what advantages/disadvantages has anyone experienced in the field that has used these systems.

Cheers,

Justin

Both the 190 and 195 are fixed frequency and discontinued. Not being able to switch frequencies is a pretty huge limitation. Sennheiser's new G3 line would probably be a better investment and is roughly the same price point as used 190/195 gear.

Cool thanks, maybe I should just bump up to the 400 series?
Im confident I could get something (used) for roughly the same or little more than sennheisers G3 new.

Look into the Lectrosonics Lma and UCR100 or as mentioned the G3. But if you have the funds go for the 400 series Lectrosonics.

Cool,

So would you say the 400 series is better than a dual channel SR receiver and two SM series transmitters?

the 411 is superior to the SR in that it has a better tracking front end.
Meaning, less interference.

The SR falls somewhere between the 411 and the 401 in that regard.

Sound quality is said to be equal.

I own both 411's and an SRa5p w/ SMDa transmitters
the 411's have better range in my experience with them.

Its a toss up for me.
If you want the best sound and reliability 411's are the way to go. If you want super lightweight
and small (2 receivers in 1) the SRa5p is tough to ignore.

Thanks Rippie, just what I was looking for...

So I think i'll eventually end up with both as well, but what should I go with first?

I'd like to be wireless on boom. So maybe a 411 and smqv.
Then a SR w/ 2 smqv's. What do you reckon this would run?
Any deals out there currently? I realize they are their weight in gold.

Cheers,

J
