Lectrosonics Purchasing Srategy

Im thinking about skipping Senn G2, and getting the Lectrosonics 100 series.

Ive been offered the slightly older 100 series (with the UCR100 Rx, and the UM100 Tx) for a decent price...

But would it be stupid not to buy a new 100 series with the Digi-hybrid LM Tx. The reason I ask is because the UCR100 doesnt have digital hybrid reception anyway - so would I even be USING the extra abilities that the Lm Tx would give me?

Naturally, the LM does offer me the freedom to upgrade to the 401a Rx if Im ever lucky enough to do so, but right now this is too expensive.

So, basically, should I consider the UCR100 with the older UM100 Tx, or spend about $400 more just to get the LM pack? Im thinking go with the UM, but maybe thats just me being dumb.

Are there any other options in the $1000 range that Im overlooking?

the 100 tx is much powerful 100mw the lm is better then 50 , on some blocks it around 70 mw .
the difference can be around 30-15% on the range .

.beside that when you will upgrade , you will have to sell complete system since no one looking for receivers only .
buy these now , upgrade later - ,

so the only difference Im likely to notice is range? Im not really bothered with range... almost never need any kind of transmitter with any kind of drastic range.

any difference in sound quality between the UM100 and the LM?

dont think you will get a drastic change with lm tx .

the original 100 has a variable high pass filter so it is nice when you have to cut the lows on some voices or very high wind situations or you like boost the low end on feemale lows , the lm cuts everything under 90 hz

oh, ok well thats good to know, because I missed out on the used deal with the um transmitter, so now I dont really have a choice.

But I found a dealer here in SA that will do the 100 series kit for $1085 before shipping and tax costs, with a full warranty from lectrosonics that includes free shipping in case of repairs, and also replacement units and things like that.

if I go with these Lectro units (and I'll have to buy two), then Im actually going to hold off on the lav upgrades for a few months so the wireless can pay itself off a bit and EARN the sankens. Spending lots of money like this scares the crap out of me, but hey, I am a sissy. (And to think that, from your point of view, Im buying cheap) :)

let us know how the lectrosonics work out.

i'm thinking of switching from my sennheiser g1 and g2's to lectrosonics.

i'll probably rent a set to try out first.

i would also rent first, but here in SA, especially in Johannesburg where I live, you never see lectro anywhere. the sound guys use g2 or sony. im pretty sure lectro will be better than both...

im buying my lectro's through colossal sound, they beat the price that the SA dealer for lectrosonics could give me, so Im doing ok - i think its going to be about $1000 per 100 series kit.
