Looking to purchase a 411a/Tx combo and wanted to get some experience from the pros regarding blocks in LA. Also looking to get an IFB system. Are block 28 and 29 still usable? Will they not be soon?
 
Blocks 28 & 29 will still "work" as in they'll turn on. But soon they'll be illegal to use in the US & you're probably not going to want to use them at all unless you spend most of your time a few miles underground where you won't run into interference.

I'm not in LA so I can't say which are good blocks to use, but I would say just check out Lectro's site & their many helpful charts that should guide you in the right direction.
 
Yep, see the other thread running. As of June 12th, it will be illegal in the USA to use wireless mics on any frequency between 698mHz and 806mHz.
 
The 700MHz switch is only like 18 months away up here, I don't think it's a wise investment to spend money on gear you know has an expiration date.
