Beside approx a $400-500 difference...
Is the sound quality that much different?

I have the opporitunity to buy a
USED Lecrto M175 Lav system for $600+tax.
or
NEW Sennheiser G2 Lav System for $459+tax.

Which would you pick?

That's too much for the m175 system. I wouldn't pay over $400 for one... even if it was MINT. The 175 series is getting pretty old... that set is probably AT LEAST 10 years old.

You could get a CR187 system for around $550 and it would be MUCH newer and probably work better. (I've bought TWO for between $500-$550). To be honest with you I've been very happy with mine, but after using a friend's G2 I'd have a hard time deciding between the cr187 sets I bought and the G2... If I was choosing between a G2 and m175 series right now, I'd have to go with the G2 for certain.

It's not my style to push somebody AWAY from Lectro... and the cr187 sets have been surprisingly good... but that was just too much money for the 175 set and all I remember from the day I used my friend's G2 was smiling at the design and performance of the set.

Realize that conditions and results vary with wireless sets... some days everything's perfect and some days you get a little noise or sizzle... and some days you might get NO performance. This has been true with my Lectros and I'm sure it will be true with the G2, but the one day I did get to use the G2 sure made me want a set.

The 175's sound like butt, in my opinion, especially really old one's that will probably need to be re-tuned (which will cost a lot money). Go with the G2's.

Retuning a transmitter is $85.

Not too bad, but if you'd asked about a cr187 for $500 or less I'd have said get it. I get audio from 300 feet away with mine... and I get crappy audio from around 500 feet through buildings. So it's not like Lectro doesn't make good stuff... but a decade is a decade... and really those COULD even be 15 years old. That's pushing it.

Do as Dave says... G2 baby. I'll probably add one to my audio bag later this year myself... but I gotta' wait for the 500 series.

I just received my G2 set. They work great, just turn down the transmitter sensitivity for quiet sound. I was surprized at the range. I went out side to the street and my wife still had great sound thru several walls.
