LCD Editing Monitor

I currently have a dual CRT setup and am looking at adding a production monitor to be feed either through a deck or a Matrox RTX.100. I would like to get rid of the big CRT's and step into a pair of LCD's. I know all about LCD response times and such for playback and eliminating ghosting. Does anybody have any experience with LCD's on their desktop? I also do a lot of stills and color accuracy there is a must.

Appreciate any response

Re: LCD Editing Monitor

I have Mac and PC systems and I really like my 20" Apple Cinema display. The current Apple displays can all be run off of a Mac or a PC with a suitable DVI output video card. The Cinema display is excellent for still work, although I don't quite trust it to replace a production monitor. I also have a 17" widescreen Viewsonic LCD monitor/television and it's pretty good, but I still use my production monitor. Maybe it's a psychological barrier I have to cross, but I really like seeing the output from a CRT production monitor when I color correct and adjust gamma.

If color accuracy is a must, you need to stick with CRT. I have yet to see a color accurate LCD anything. I use Samsung LCD monitors on my edit bay (for the space savings and ergonomics), but I do not color correct anything with them. I have a Sony broadcast CRT monitor for that.

Re: LCD Editing Monitor

I do plan to get a production monitor to do color correction and am simply looking to regain my desk. Apple has gone strictly to LCD over the past few years and for a long time they have been the mainstay of graphic design and photo editing. I have looked at the Cinema Series LCDs from apple and have been very impressed. I have also looked at the Eizo and Planar monitors. I guess it simply comes down to cost now.

Now for the production monitor. I will do a quick search but any feedback here would be helpful.
