Lavalier sounds distorted on the HVX, please help!

I'm shooting on the HVX200 with the G2 Evolution lavalier system from Sennheiser and am using Audio Technologies mics.

On our first shoots with the HVX, we noticed a lot of distortion in the sound. Mostly, it sounds like the lavs are being overloaded. We've tried turning them way down and the same problem seems to be occurring.

What are we doing wrong? On the DVX100, we never had this problem. How can we get rid of the distortion? Are there settings we forgot on receivers and/or camera?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The lavaliere could be overloading at either the receiver, or in the camera. Make sure the transmitter's not transmitting too loud to the receiver. Then, check the line/mic level and audio gain knobs to make sure you're not overloading at the camera side.

... and make sure you're using 'line-in" setting not the "mic-in" setting on the camera. This setting, sets the level coming into the camera from the lav reciever. An improperly set input will cause lots of distortion.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, we did a camera/mic test and the mics still sounded overloaded.

I have the new version of the HVX and the "line in"/"mic in" switches have been replaced (or combined with the phantom power switch).

I changed the settings to not deliver any power to the mic and it's still distorted.

Sorry for the stupid question: But did they move the "line in" switch and we're not seeing it?

The Sennheiser Evolution G2 wireless arrives out of the box with the receiver set a bit too hot. Turn down the AF Out. You might also want to check out this little tutorial on youtube. http://youtube.com/watch?v=TyVAjZq9HF8
Basically, I took the info that the Sennheiser dealers get in training and compressed it into a short video.
