I WAS TOLD BY A SOUND ENGINEER THAT A GOOD MIC/ SOUND SET-UP WOULD BE 2 LAVALIER MICROPHONES. I AM DIRECTING MY OWN SMALL INDY FILM, FEATURE LENGTH, AND WAS WONDERING IF I COULD GET SOME ADVICE, ABOUT THIS, AND ALSO ABOUT RECORDING INTO THE CAMERA.
HAS ANYONE HAD SOME GOOD RESULTS WITH THIS?
( THINKING ABOUT THE SEINHOUSER) SPELLING ???

Lav mics do nice job provided that you use them properly. A few things to consider...

Each lav should be recorded on a separate audio track. Why? There could be audio phasing or echo problems if they are recorded on the same track.

If you have more than two people speaking in a scene you will need a lav for each actor and an audio recorder with multiple tracks (see above).

You have to pay much closer attention to your costumes; synthetic fabrics, etc. create lots of clothing rustle which is very difficult to eliminate in audio post.

If improperly placed the dialog can sound muffled.

The transmitters eat batteries like crazy.

You could potentially have RF interference. Again, very difficult to eliminate in audio post.
