Lavalier mic going into 3.5mm stereo input...

A client has a camera which has a 3.5mm stereo input (mic input). I need to get audio to the camcorder. (Please avoid telling me how I should record it separately to an H4n... Its not my setup.)

My thought is to set them up with a Sennheiser EW G3 Lavalier Mic with the reciever set to a low output and going into the 3.5mm adapter. Any alternate thoughts? Are there any wireless lavaliere systems that are easier to deal with when it comes to 3.5mm inputs instead of XLRs?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

There are several viable ways of connecting a wireless receiver to camcorder 3.5mm stereo mic input. Exactly which receiver and/or connector/levels are we talking about here. Chances are excellent that you can do it properly with nothing more than an adapter cable with the mating connectors on each end and maybe a pad if you need to reduce line level to mic level.

I have published a rather popular guide to adapting XLR balanced to 3.5mm adapters...

And a nice resource for pads by Rick Chinn...

Sennheiser makes a cable for their portable receivers designed to do exactly this, the CL1. Only works with the portable receiver, though, due to the locking 3.5mm connector on the receiver end. I have used this with a G2 series portable receiver and a Canon GL2.

That is exactly what I'm looking at. I have 4 of the G3 wireless units and LOVE them. This seems to be the most cost effective way to record audio via lav mic to a small camcorder with a 3.5mm jack.

The Beachtek is cool but not what I need. I'm not worried at all about adapting xlr to 3.5mm, I'm just trying to ask if there is an even simpler way to do this. To me what I described initially is the most cost effective and simple way to do it...

Lavalier (2 x AA batteries) --> Wireless Receiver (2 x AA batteries) --> 3.5mm adapter --> Camcorder (Rechargeable Battery)

as opposed to

Lavalier (2 x AA batteries) --> Wireless Receiver (2 x AA batteries) --> Beachtek preamp Lavalier (2 x AA batteries) --> Camcorder (Rechargeable Battery)

The Beachtek is cool but for this application I need everything to be super simple. The lavalier receiver does not need a preamp, it just needs an adapter.
