There is something I would like to understand about these lavalier locking connectors. Are the Sony and Sennheiser connectors alike? Can a Sony locking connector work with a Sennheiser wireless kit? Also, would a normal TRS 3.5mm work with both wireless kits?
The connections on the Sony and Sennheiser are different. Actually the Sennheiser can be wired 2 different ways (one way for mic level and the other way for line level)
If you are looking for a flexable connection system for Lav mics have a look at the Rode Lav mic that offers many different 'Micon' connectors to match the Radio Tx you might be using, they also have an XLR Micon to convert the Lav to a cable mic.
Yes you can use a standard 3.5mm stereo plug ..... but it could come out just when you don't want it to (emergency use ONLY)
Also not all locking 3.5mm connectors have the same thread on the locking ring and some others just dont fit the recess of the Sony Tx units.
