lav/shotgun purchases

hi there,

i'm looking to invest in a couple of lavs and a shotgun for videography projects (weddings) and some short films. i'm totally a novice in the audio dept and am doing my best to research and sift through all the online content.

i was wondering if there are specific lavs / shotguns that ppl recommend - not the most expensive, high-end item, but something in the mid-range thats durable, reliable and of professional quality. trying to find a happy medium! thanks,

First a couple questions for you:

Are you looking for a shotgun for on camera or will you be able to use a boom op?
Do you have any sort of budget in mind?


For your wireless, Sennheiser G2 or the new G3. Replace the stock lavs with something nice and concealable, perhaps Countryman B6 or B3 lavs.

G2 kits will set you back around $500 a channel, add $400 for each B6 or $250 for each of the slightly larger B3 lavs.
